Why Conversion is the Answer

17th November, 2020   |   How To...Guides

Have you ever bought a piece of clothing that you loved so much and wore until it was no more? What did you do with it? Did you throw it away? Donate it? Is it sitting bunched up in the back of your closet?

As I am sure you all know, we are absolutely obsessed with conversion here at Converted Closet. We believe it is the safest, most sustainable and most stylish option! Who wouldn’t want to reinvent their favorite piece to make it new again.

Conversion is THE answer to sustainability, and we will tell you why.

Even if a brand or company is using organic fabrics, it still requires stripping resources from the earth. When you convert an already made garment instead of buying something new, you are instantly regenerating the planet. Even the virgin materials whether they are sustainable or not take energy, additional resources, and leave a lot of waste. In our previous blog post, we mention that at least 80 billion brand new clothes are produced every year. With a population of 7.5 billion, that is beyond unnecessary.

As Kate says, “Conversion is the way to have your fashion cake and eat it too!”

Conversion not only allows you to give your clothes new life, but it also assures you that you really got the most out of what you paid for and now you have a whole bunch of fresh ‘new’ outfits.

Speaking of ‘new’ outfits, let’s say, for example, you wanted to convert a sweater dress you have had for a few years. You are ready to give it a new look, but aren’t exactly sure where to start. At Converted Closet, we are here to help you with that! A few ideas to turn it into: A jumper? A matching set? A skirt? An extravagant top with the excess fabric? We got you covered.

Conversion goes beyond upcycling. It brings a whole new meaning to how we wear our clothes and the creativity we fashion lovers possess. Realistically speaking, the most sustainable piece of clothing is the piece that is already hanging in your closet.

It is time for us to get converting!
